REGULATION 19 - RULES OF WOMEN’S FIELD LACROSSE
19.01 Rules of play in Alberta shall be those of the World Lacrosse Women’s Field Rule Book for
the current season. In order to ensure uniformity, there will be no variation of the Rules
and officials shall enforce Rules with the following enhancements:
19.02 Women’s Field Playing Rules
a) The World Lacrosse Rules of Field Lacrosse apply. NCAA Crosses will be permitted.
b) The Lacrosse Canada Association’s Coaches Code and the Lacrosse Canada Coaching
Philosophy for Field Lacrosse must be adhered to. Adherence to these Guidelines will
be monitored and interpreted by the ALA Representative.
c) All games will start on time unless otherwise decided upon by the ALA Representative.
d) WARM UP: there will be a five (5) minute warm-up before game time.
e) Game Times: Full games will be run consisting of 2 - 25 minute halves with a 5
minute half time rest for U15. Full games will be run consisting of 2 - 20 minute
halves with a 5 minute half time rest for U12. Full games will be run consisting of 2 -
15 minute halves with a 5 minute half time rest for U8. Teams will have one (1) twominute timeouts per game. The clock shall only stop in the event of injury. Injured
players must leave the field until the next scheduled substitution and shall be
replaced by another player.
f) Overtime: after a 5 minute rest, team will switch ends and the game will continue
until the first sudden victory goal. Overtime periods will be 6 minute stop time
periods with 3 minute rest in between.
g) A game is considered complete if 80% of the game time has elapsed.
